David Thomas is a Co/Owner of Stellar USA and a member of the Design team as well. First getting his feet wet in boat building in the US with Quantum Racing, a rowing shell manufacturer in Brunswick, Maine of advanced construction rowing shells. The rapid success of Quantum caught the eyes of WinTech Racing of Bridgeport, CT, which brought Ed and David to China to revamp the complete production line and technology at the factory in China back in 2004. Heading up Research and Development, in 2008 David and Ed were able to incorporate their knowledge of advance composites and hull design into the launch of Stellar. David currently resides in Massachusetts at the Stellar North American HQ working on new designs and innovations as well as getting out on the water when time permits!
Ed Hofmeister is a Co/Owner of Stellar USA, is a member of the Design team and the Chief Engineer. Ed has a Composites Engineering degree and worked at Carter Copter, prior to joining the boat building business, where he worked on an innovative prop design for a gyrocopter. After Carter Copter, Ed moved to Maine and joined Quantum racing, building advanced rowing shells. The rapid success of Quantum caught the eyes of WinTech Racing of Bridgeport, CT, which brought Ed and David to China to revamp the complete production line and technology at the factory in China back in 2004. Debbie Arenberg is the North American Sales and Logistics Manager. With over 25 years of experience in the rowing shell industry, she is no stranger to the small boat world. Debbie previously managed both Alden Rowing Shells and WinTech Racing and has made a seamless transition to Stellar. Debbie also has extensive rowing experience in open water racing and is excited to use those skills in the Stellar boats. She has an unparalleled work ethic and excitement to learn that we are fortunate to be able to have on our team!
Debbie also works as a consultant to the US Paralympic Committee, Disabled Sports USA and other disability organizations by helping organize Learn-To-Row events with veterans and running clinics and adaptive programs at clubs, universities and rehabilitation facilities. She is a certified FISA adaptive classifier and works for U.S. Rowing as their Adaptive Programs Development Specialist. With the Paracanoe being added to roster of events at the Brazilian Olympics, we are glad to have Deb help further develop the sport and its equipment to create better access for all paddlers.
Ben Lawry is the Stellar USA Team National Technical Rep and general Paddling GURU! Ben has been a great supporter of Stellar over the years and helped with the development of our S18R and ST21. Ben is located in Folsom, CA and will enhance our presence on the West Coast, providing dealer and athlete support as well as running a local demo center. Ben's vast paddling experience brings Stellar a great resource as we continue to develop models and redevelop existing boats to better fit the market and paddlers' needs!
Ben's rich experience has led to an in-depth knowledge of paddling, instruction practices, a strong commitment to quality service, as well as excellent organizational and problem solving skills. He has paddled for more than 40 years and instructed for over 30. He's had the pleasure of teaching paddling on five continents and competing on three.
His work has taken him to symposiums, shows and paddling rendezvous all over the United States and across the globe. He has been involved with design of surf skis, sea, touring and white water kayaks as well as designing paddles, accessories and clothing for all disciplines.
Ben has competed all over the world in a variety of disciplines including sprint, sea kayak, marathon canoe and kayak, outrigger, surf ski and wild-water events (as part of the US National Wild-water Team) and even slalom and rodeo. His races include the Dusi, Adige and Cesky Krumlov marathons, monthly local derbies, the Blackburn and the General Clinton just to name a few.
Ben is a coveted instructor and presenter. He teaches and travels extensively in North and South America, South Africa, Europe and Asia. He is a regular lecturer and coach at the National American Canoe Association (ACA) Conference and has presented and coached at ACA Europe Conference and National Whitewater Symposium.
When not on the water, you'll find him riding a bike, running and participating in the odd multi-sport event. We are very excited to bring Ben into Stellar USA and know he will be a huge asset with our R&D Process as well as Dealer Support and Training! In this role, look for Ben's clinics at your local Stellar Dealership for beginners to advanced paddlers for touring, sea kayaking and racing/surf skiing.
